Tenorio Tuna Fillets in Brine, Lucas Bacalhau in Olive Oil and Garlic, Ocean’s Brisling Sardines Mediterranean

We’re kicking off the new year with some incredible tins! Whether or not you’ve maintained your New Year’s resolution or Dry January became Damp January, you can rest easy knowing you’ve accomplished being trendy. Tinned fish is all the rage these days with magazines like Vogue calling it the new “hot girl food” and “a chic and toothsome appetizer” so feel free to plate these recipes on your finest, most instagrammable dinnerware because you are cool and the world must know.

Tenorio Tuna Fillets in Brine- This tuna defies all expectations of canned tuna so let’s honor it with a variation on mango chili tuna tartar(e). Combine a diced avocado with a generous squeeze of lemon juice and pinch of sea salt. This will be the base of your tartare, so after mixing, you can plate it right away. Drain your tuna and break it up gently with a fork. In a separate bowl, combine the tuna with 1⁄4 of a minced red onion, the included packet of tatar sauce and mango chili seasoning. Mix up your tuna mixture well and place on top of your avocado base in an even layer. Top with diced cherry tomatoes and optionally drizzle with ponzu sauce to finish off your gourmet dish. Feel free to use a proper mold to copy the traditional tartare shape for that extra gourmet look. 

Lucas Bacalhau in Olive Oil and Garlic- In the spirit of being hip and cool, we could not pass up the opportunity to splurge on this tin of cod. Savor it in this version of a traditional Portuguese cod salad.  Boil, peel and quarter 2 medium eggs and set aside to cool. Chop a quarter of a white onion and soak in hot water to remove the bite. Chop half of a red bell pepper. Combine ½ cup of canned chickpeas (rinsed), with your drained chopped onions, chopped bell pepper, and tinned Bacalhau (including garlic olive oil contents) in a medium bowl. Drizzle in the included red wine vinegar, add salt and pepper to taste and mix well. Lastly add the quartered boiled eggs to the bowl, allow to chill a bit and enjoy!

Brisling Sardines Mediterranean- The sauce in this tin is flavorful and makes a quick addition to a healthy grain-based dish. Add this tin and the Mediterranean veggie contents to a bowl of cooked quinoa and enjoy the dish for a quick lunch or dinner.
